Network Performance Reporting Service

The network performance reporting service is designed to provide the information that network managers need in order to be forewarned of potential problems and to allow informed decisions to be made before users are affected.This service is based on a technology which provides clear and concise live and historical reports with graphs of performance and service quality.

The system works by polling devices (DNS servers, e-mail servers, unix systems), links (leased lines and ISDN) and elements (intelligent hubs, routers, switches or RMON probes) at regular intervals and retrieving SNMP MIB information. The data collected is then processed into a database so that reports can be generated. A key feature is the ability of the system to turn what is abstruse data into usable and easy to understand information.

Computrad will provide their clients with statistical SNMP performance reports on their SNMP enabled equipment.

These reports, presented in graphical form, will provide details of data volumes, errors, and WAN and LAN statistics, including utilisation. If collected over several months, the statistical information produces a historical record allowing trends and anomalies to be quickly and easily identified.

As an ongoing development, reports can be produced and accessed over the Internet allowing clients with an almost real time insight on the performance of their network and devices.

The service can be used for an agreed period of time e.g. for baselining, or on a permanent basis, to provide the client with comprehensive reports on an ongoing basis.

 

Performance Reports

These informative reports provide details on a network's vital statistics such as utilisation, traffic volumes and errors. Furthermore baselines of historical data provide easy identification of anomalies and trends. Coupled with the statistics for bandwidth utilisation the latter is particularly useful for capacity planning.

  • Utilisation
  • Links
  • Routers
  • Key LAN segments
  • Latency

With many other reports being available, dependant on customer's needs

These reports are supplied monthly and include baselines indicating monthly averages, to assist in the identification of trends. This can also supply the client with an indication of overall network performance and highlight any problem areas that may exist.

Alternatively individual and tailored reports can be produced to address customers exact requirements through use of the software's own report generator.
