Alteon Security Manager by Nortel Networks provides a single point of administration for Alteon security devices and applications. It offers a practical management solution for customers who administer more than one Alteon Switched Firewall cluster in the network or who have multiple Alteon security solutions, including the Alteon Switched Firewall, Alteon Wireless Security Switch, Alteon SSL Accelerator, Alteon SSL VPN, and Alteon Application Switches, deployed within their infrastructure. To ensure consistent administration across security devices or groups of devices (clusters), the ASM auto-discovers and displays multi-layer network topologies with corresponding status information and performance statistics that enable proactive management, problem solving, and capacity planning.

The Alteon Security Manager manages the Alteon Switched Firewalls, including both accelerated and non-accelerated firewall solutions, the Alteon Wireless Security Switch, Alteon SSL appliances, Alteon SSL VPN, and the Alteon Application Switch 2424-SSL. To enable comprehensive management and ease of use, the Alteon Security Manager integrates into the HP OpenView Network Node Manager and now offers a stand-alone version of the security management software. Both versions can be used in conjunction with other applications to manage Alteon security devices deployed in the network.
