The Alteon Switched Firewall System protects high-traffic IT data centers, service provider networks, and hosting infrastructures using unique accelerator technology and Check Point FW-1 NG software, in a compact rack-mount package. The Alteon Switched Firewall System offer seven plug-and-play models which are available, from three standalone firewalls that can each be deployed as a pay-as-you-grow "starter kit" for small- to medium-sized enterprises, to high-end models with multi-gigabit throughput designed to accelerate up to 90 percent of all traffic.

Key Features:

  • Models available to deliver up to 4.2 Gbps throughput and up to 500,000 simultaneous accelerated sessions, 1 million total, using Check Point Firewall-1 Next Generation software, the de facto industry standard
  • Distributes policy-checking and NAT processing to accelerate up to 90 percent of traffic to wire speed (except value-priced ASF 5100 series)
  • Supports automatic, 'active-active' fail-over to backup firewall devices to deliver high availability ('active-standby' for non-accelerated ASF 5100 series)
  • Provides 'plug-and-play' provisioning, whereby add-on Switched Firewall Directors are auto-detected when powered up and automatically configured for license, IP address and security policies
  • Expands easily from one to six Switched Firewall Directors per Switched Firewall cluster-occupying a small footprint of only three rack units for the base Alteon Switched Firewall (only 1U for stand-alone ASF 5100 series)
