ProxySG™ 800 Series Overview
Enterprise Visibility, Control and Acceleration of Web Communications

The Web is increasingly critical for business operations for enterprises and large branch offices while the growth of new threats such as spyware, viruses, trojans and browser attacks leveraging real-time web communications continue to spiral upward.

Allowing Internet access in the enterprise introduces bandwidth-robbing spyware that often impedes critical business processes, plus creates a host of productivity, resource and legal issues from Internet content. What users bring into networks via their browser is only half the issue. Administrators must also control what gets sent out via web-based email, browser posts, IM and P2P file sharing to avoid risks to enterprise security and adhere to new compliance regulations. A primary goal of IT is to reduce costs to support enterprise departments while increasing security and control as Internet content (and associated threats) continue to evolve.

The ProxySG 800 Series (with five models) includes both a Visual Policy Manager graphical interface or command-line interface for policy configuration. In forward proxy mode, ProxySG filters users' web browser requests and responses with on-proxy URL list support and content controls, plus provide spyware prevention, WebAV, IM controls, P2P file sharing controls, streaming media controls, phishing attack unmasking, and bandwidth management.

In reverse proxy mode, ProxySG provides acceleration of web applications (such as Outlook Web Access) or content from web origin servers while isolating these web servers from direct Internet access. Optional SSL services in ProxySG secure communications and off-load application servers.

The ProxySG 800 provides a rack mountable proxy appliance for enterprises and large branch offices where Internet access requires visibility and control. Plus acceleration of web-based applications leveraging compression, bandwidth management and integrated caching features in ProxySG. With multiple options available for authentication integration, the ProxySG appliances can be configured to advise, coach and enforce policies for remote sites, groups and individual users.

Centralized policy administration (for multi-appliance deployments) is provided by Blue Coat Director, while Blue Coat Reporter provides log aggregation from appliances for concise reports and analysis of web communications and policy enforcement.
