Cisco Catalyst 3560-E Series Switches

Introduction: Cisco Catalyst 3560-E Series Switches

Enhance productivity and protect your investment as the network evolves and application requirements increase. The Cisco Catalyst 3560-E Series is an enterprise-class line of standalone wiring closet switches that ease the deployment of secure converged applications. Combining 10/100/1000 and Power over Ethernet (PoE) configurations with uplinks that easily upgrade from 1 Gigabit Ethernet to 10 Gigabit Ethernet, these switches enhance worker productivity by enabling applications such as IP telephony, wireless, and video.

Key features include:

  • TwinGig converter module for migrating uplinks from 1 Gigabit Ethernet (SFP) to 10 Gigabit Ethernet (X2)
  • Configurations with up to 15.4 watts (Class 3) of PoE on all 48 ports
  • Field-replaceable and upgradable power supplies and fan
  • Wire rate performance with a 68 Gpbs nonblocking switching fabric
  • Multicast routing, IPv6 routing, and access control list in hardware
  • Out-of-band Ethernet management port along with RS-232 console port

The Catalyst 3560-E Series is orderable with these feature sets:

  • The IP Base feature set includes advanced QoS, security, and basic routing functionality.
  • The IP Services feature set provides more enterprise-class features, including advanced hardware-based IP unicast and multicast routing, Virtual Route Forwarding (VRF), and policy-based routing (PBR).

Upgrades

  • The IP Advanced Services software license can be purchased separately to enable IPv6 routing.

Available for the Catalyst 3560-E Series, the Cisco Network Assistant is a centralized management application that simplifies the administration task of Cisco switches, routers, and wireless access points. Free of charge, the Cisco Network Assistant provides configuration wizards that greatly simplify the implementation of converged networks and intelligent network services.
