Accelerated application performance

Citrix Netscaler has the capability of accelerating application performance by up to five times, by leveraging multiple acceleration technologies and innovative TCP optimizations. Citrix AppCompress and Citrix AppCache provide highly enhanced data compression and caching of static and dynamic content to accelerate application responses. NetScaler TCP optimizations provide network management solutions that resolve the issues caused by high latency and congested network links and are transparent to clients and servers. This is done by accelerating the application delivery of any enterprise or Web-based application without the need for configuration. Real-time and historical page-level monitoring of user performance experience is delivered by Citrix EdgeSight for NetScaler.

Comprehensive Web application security

NetScaler provides Web application security from application-layer attacks, assisting in the prevention of theft and leakage of important corporate and customer data. Patented Citrix Request Switching allows NetScaler to proxy legitimate client requests and block illegitimate requests, and includes high-performance, built-in defenses against denial of service (DoS) attacks. In addition to Layer 4 information (protocol and port number), traffic management policies for TCP applications can be based upon any application-layer content. Administrators can granularly segment application traffic based upon information contained within an HTTP request body or TCP payload, as well as L4-7 header information such as URL, application data type or cookie. Numerous load-balancing algorithms and extensive server health checks provide even better application availability by making sure client requests are directed only to correctly behaving servers.

Reduced deployment and operating costs

Citrix NetScaler reduces Web application delivery costs by decreasing the number of required servers and by optimizing usage of available network bandwidth. The latest NetScaler device, the MPX-series, offers multiple 10GE ports and the power to run simultaneous functional modules with traffic throughput in excess of 10 gigabits, even at layer 7. For managing multiple NetScaler appliances, the separately available NetScaler Command Center provides centralized administration of system configuration, event management, performance management and SSL certificate administration.
