On February 11, 2008, Citrix changed the name of its Citrix Presentation Server™ product line to Citrix XenApp&8482;. The new XenApp name was chosen to better reflect the product’s core focus on application virtualization, and to underscore the importance of providing customers with an end-to-end virtualization system that incorporates servers (Citrix XenServer™), applications (XenApp) and desktops (Citrix XenDesktop™).

XenApp will be the new product line name for all versions of Presentation Server going forward. The Presentation Server name will remain on all existing product, documentation, support and marketing tools specific to the 4.5 and earlier releases of the product.

XenApp is an application delivery system that offers client-side and server-side application virtualization, for optimal application performance and flexible delivery options. This allows the delivery of secure applications as a service, while providing the flexibility to leverage future application architectures.
