CRYPTO-Kit is a set of application programming interfaces available on the Windows, Linux and Macintosh platforms, the purpose of which is to provide access to two CRYPTOCard services: the EUS and the Authentication Service.

The EUS is used for the management of software, Smart card and USB tokens, and obtaining responses from these tokens. The Authentication Service (CRYPTO-Server) at its core - returns the result of an authentication request, either accept – the response from the token is correct – or reject – the response from the token is not the response the server expects.

An overview of the relationships between an application, CRYPTO-Kit, the EUS and CRYPTO-Server is shown below:

Relationships Between an application, Crypto-Kit, the EUS and Crypto-Server

Typically uses of CRYPTO-Kit include:

  • Automating the user logon experience so that the user does not need to type or 'cut-and-paste' one-time passwords into a logon dialogue;
  • Auto sensing the presence of a "EUS" based token for browser-based logons;
  • Creating an authentication bridge between a custom application, web-server or NAS (software firewall, vpn gateway ...) and CRYTPO-Server where standard RADIUS is not supported.

CRYPTO-Kit is included with all CRYPTO-Server distributions.
