Juniper Flexible Bandwidth Services

IP Services - Flexible Bandwidth Services

Benefits

With the flexible bandwidth technologies of the ERX, service providers may create highly customized bandwidth policies for their subscribers, resulting in:

  • A highly competitive service offering—bandwidth policies that are flexible and easily adaptable will grow with the needs of private line, xDSL, and wireless customers
  • A wide range of technologies to accommodate all types of CPE gear, so that services can be developed and rolled out independent of installed CPE gear
  • Standard policies that are created and extended to all types of access technologies—eliminating the need for services that are restricted to specific POP or geographical locations
  • New bandwidth services that are easy to roll out and often require only a configuration change in the subscribers' profile
  • Hardware-based power that delivers full accounting support—providing service providers with a variety of billing options for the service plans—including flat rate, per packet, per bandwidth, per overage, etc.

Technology

The E-series enables a number of flexible bandwidth services, allowing service providers to offer the deployment of customized bandwidth policies to business users, home offices, and individual consumers, such as:

  • Fractional T1/E1 services at 64Kbps, 128 Kbps, 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, etc.
  • Cost-effective T1/E1 services
  • N x T1/E1" services such as 3.08M/4.096M, 4.632M/6.144, etc. for users that are not ready for T3 services
  • Fractional T3/E3 and "N x T3/E3" services such as "20M service" or "30M service" to meet the needs of growing businesses or wholesale partners
  • Full-rate T3/E3 services with wire-speed guarantees
  • Fractional OC-3/STM-1 and "N x OC-3/STM-1" services such as "80M" or "125M" or "300M"
  • Full-rate OC-3/STM-1 services with wire-speed guarantees

Features

Service providers that deploy a competitive edge network gain and retain subscribers. The power of the E-series solution is that a single edge platform can deliver consistent IP services to leased line, xDSL, fixed wireless, and cable subscribers. Any bandwidth service can be delivered over any access media type.

Service providers can choose from the range of E-series technology tools that supports the diversity of CPE choices and meets the operational demands of the network. In addition to support for MLPPP, the E-series also supports MLFR at the edge. The router-based architecture of the E-series also enables the use of ECMP for additional bandwidth, load-balancing, or redundancy services. And since the E-series is focused on IP, all 32,000 interfaces are designed to efficiently support IP rate limit policies simultaneously.

In addition, the carrier-class features of the E-series round out the service offering:

  • The ASIC-based power of the E-series enables all bandwidth services to be delivered at wire speed, with or without accounting information
  • The extensive density of the E-series can support up to 4,000 T1s (3,000 E1s) in a single chassis, up to 12,000 T1s (9,000 E1s) in a single rack, optimizing POP space and power, and allowing service providers to hit cost-competitive pricing targets
  • 100% redundancy features such as subscriber-facing interface redundancy deliver a competitive SLA advantage
  • Flexible bandwidth services are augmented by other value-added services such as: IP VPNs, IP QoS, Security, Multicast, and Routing (Please refer to other datasheets for more information on these services)
