The PAN-OS policy editor has been specifically architected with a common look and feel to reap the benefits of existing firewall knowledge and speed-up the installation process. Whether utilizing Panorama or the device web interface, administrators can construct application usage control policies that are based on a wide-range of criteria:

  • User identity and/or groups through seamless integration with Active Directory
  • Source and destination IP address, source and destination security zones, and time-based schedules
  • Individual application or via a dynamic filter using category, subcategory, technology, risk and behavioral characteristic
  • Protocol and port number which enables enforcement of traditional protocol and port firewall policies
  • Block file transfer capabilities within an application and/or block application transfers by file type
