Websense Reporter works in combination with Websense Enterprise as a comprehensive, easy-to-use reporting tool that helps you evaluate employee Internet use at your company.

How Websense Works ?

Websense is based on pass-through filtering technology, the most accurate, reliable and scalable method of Internet filtering. Pass-through filtering requires all requests for Web pages to pass through an Internet control point such as a firewall, proxy server or caching device. Websense is integrated with these control points and checks each request to immediately determine whether it should be allowed or denied. All responses are logged for reporting purposes.

Websense filters Internet content by working in conjunction with the Websense Master Database of more than 4 million sites, organized into 80+ categories, including MP3, gambling, shopping and adult content. You can choose to block, permit, limit by time-based quota or postpone access to individual categories by user, group, workstation or network.

New sites are added to the database daily, and Websense Enterprise automatically downloads updates to the database every night to ensure you're keeping up with the rapid evolution of the Internet.

Websense Enterprise v5, CAM: Client Application Manager (CAM)T, an add-on module to Websense Enterprise, proactively manages desktop applications using a unique software categorization and user-policy management tool. From high-risk applications such as hacking tools, to security threats like instant messaging and spyware, to the bandwidth drain of peer-to-peer file sharing, CAM allows control of applications based on management specifications.

4. The Websense EIM Database: the industry's most accurate, largest and up-to-date categorization of the World Wide Web, consisting of 1 billion Web pages organized into 80+ categories of Web content

5. Websense EIM Reporting Tools: Websense Reporter and Websense Explorer Easy-to-use reporting tools that provide reporting you evaluate employee Internet use at your company

6. WebCatcher: Use WebCatcher to optimize the Websense Database for your needs. Sites visited at your company that are unrecognized are automatically sent to Websense for review. Appropriate sites are then added to the database. By using WebCatcher, the Websense database will adapt to the surfing patterns of your company, ensuring that sites visited by employees are categorized and can be managed.
